at the third trip with manta queen 1 a fishing boat left quickly richelieu rock when we appeared. they had dropped their net when they saw us, and the net covered then the top of the rock. vic, tik, dan and mr.cru removed it successfully and we sent it together with some pictures to the similan island marine park office.

... met so far say while you may have to work for it, public transportation is available. We were very excited to finally catch up on almost a weeks worth of lost sleep and find a decent place to stay. It turns out that quite a few guest houses in Krabi have free wireless so were excited to take advantage of that and hope it continues throughout Thailand. Once we finally found a place within our range we went around comparing tour prices for kayaking ...

Diving! Diving! Diving! And then some more Diving!

... to waste - even the snack options were eagerly depleted! One other interesting occurrence while on the boat, was the sighting of a Bangladeshi refugee "ship" that had probably been at sea for the past five or six days. These people had no food, water or shelter and it felt very incongruous in this beautiful setting, with a number of luxury boats surrounding them, before there deportation. At least all the boats did ...

... Married'. Jem's face was a picture! We thought it was just going to be a bit of fun cheering them on their way to the ceremony. But no, it was going to be much more than that - and Aileen and I, [and Mike, if only we could find him!] were going to play a central role in the affair. 'What?' - we were still in T shirts and shorts, dripping wet from the pool and the Chengs were dressed up to the nines. Good grief! Mad dash back to the room to ...

... other side?" "Is there actually anyone looking out for my safety here?" "I bet the risk assessment on this one makes for interesting reading ..." I gradually came to the conclusion that no-one running this project was looking out for me, so I'd better concentrate on looking out for myself, therefore pacing myself and checking the sturdiness of trees became my focus. Even so, there was one occasion on the way up when the undergrowth I was using to ...

... orders some Thai food only to find some mossie's in it!! After removing them, he tries to eat it, but it really is quite terrible. Our bus journey continues rather uneventful. At 6am we pull into a second petrol station (which is closed) 20mins out of Chang Mai. All passengers must disembark before climbing on board various mini-buses. We make our final part of the journey to our guest house. We are offered showers and beds until 10am when we depart for our trek. EXCELLENT.

Sunrise in Sukhotai

Oh my god. Another 0530 start. We manged to get a tuk-tuk driver to take us the 12km to the historical park, quite an extraordinary distance for him I think, we had to call in to the petrol station on the way! The park was alrady open when we arrived at0600 and we hired bikes, the old school sit up and beg sort with no gears and made tracks for the temple action. Unfortunately the sunrise was unsensational, but the chilled atmosphere was and we were able to beetle about ...
