South Beach Miami - Coopertown - Key Largo
Hot Very very Hot
After a couple of really relaxing days in South Beach Miami it was time to get out of there - the shopping is just too tempting. Picked up our hire car this time an Impala and headed off down towards The Keys. A quick deviation to a little …
... like a marine surplus and junkyard and some of the RVs were antiques not well maintained. At the suggestion of the owner we decided to move on. Good decision.
A quick call and we were booked into a recently opened campground with beautiful gulf side frontage. The Point of View Campground did not disappoint us. A good view of the gulf out our front window, big wide ...
... into the park and out of reception range. With just one bar of coverage, I managed to message him the confirmation number and itinerary number, and could only hope that this was sufficient to sort him out. Another message waiting for me when we got back into range told me that it was all good and sorted. A great relief. Got back to the hostel at lunch time. Went for a walk to visit Cracker Barrel, and then Hungry Jacks ...
... I am doing it I am fine. You feel like you are in the womb in a way. It’s so quiet and all you can hear is yourself taking breaths. It feels so good to just float along with the current and feel the waves licking over your body. The water was also quite cool and it was very hot so it felt so good to be in the water.
We learned something interesting about the mangroves which I never knew. They need freshwater so ...
... in the right-place-right-time to see a floating log slowly dip under water and suddenly devour an unsuspecting fish.
After buying some cool refreshments we continued on the journey, still surrounded by wonderful large birds and monstrous alligators. We exited the Everglades feeling that we had seen a good offering of wildlife and sceanery. We continued on our journey south, skirting the westerly boarders of Miami and passing ...

Very basic, room very tired looking ,very expensive, was a last minute booking and paid top dollar however we were just glad to get a bed for the night. Swimming pool good. Would definitely book accommodation in advance if visiting the area again as I am sure there would be better valued places around.

Historical Traveler Reviews Key Largo Inn
Not A 3 star hotel!
This is not a 3 star hotel! The doors would not close properly or lock! This is not a safe environment!!! You might as well sleep in your car. The air conditioner/heater did not work and we had to move to another room. The person who painted the room left foot prints of paint on the carpet.
Stay Away, Bad Choice. Zero Stars
This is not written by staff or owners. Very Old Travel Lodge, original everything. Very noisy. Motel is between a main road and a Fire dept. Walls are paper thin, TV had lousy reception, AC did not work, mold on the bed frames, no electrical in the bathroom, front door did not fit properly or lock, did NOT feel safe . We had 3 rooms and all feel the same way. This motel doesn't deserve any stars. Do not be deceived by pictures or other reviews. STAY AWAY
We had a good time...
This is an old Travelodge. The room was very clean, however, it's old. The sheets smelled really fresh. The staff was friendly and helpful regarding local restaurants, etc... The hotel is located on the ocean side, however, it isn't waterfront. The location is convenient to Camp Pennekamp and you can be in Islamorada in 20 minutes or so. They're VERY serious about their no-smoking policy. You have to sign a statement indicating you won't smoke on the property.
Travelodge should be embarrassed to have their name on this sign--
Sleep in your car before booking this dump. I'm sorry to admit it but I didn't check this site before booking this "hotel". Thank god I only had to stay there one night. The place was disgusting. Dirt everywhere including some kind of mold growing in the bathroom and falling into the sink. The noise is horrible from Rt-1, which is about three steps from the property. The pool was as dirty as the room. The entire property is in disrepair. I needed a place to spend one night before the condo I was renting was available so I booked here thinking from the hotels web site and the price $129 +taxes that it should be OK. Boy was I wrong. Stay Away.
I guess you really get what u pay for. I stayed here one night the weekend of the annual MS Ride to Key largo. After biking 75 miles this was not what i expected. Upon entering the lobby it seemed nice and clean, no bathrooms tho. It took a bit to check in. When we got to the room it was ok nothing spectacular for the money. (this was the one of the inexpensive hotels i found for that weekend) We ordered pizza in and when i was about to start eating noticed something on the bed.
Terrible motel.... dirty and very bad customer service.
I had a very bad experience with the motel. It is very dirty and not in good condition. Would not reinburse. Ended up staying somewhere else and lost the money. There are other good ones around. Do not choose this one.
Not what was advertised
The room was overpriced & FILTHY. The pool was so dirty I wouldn't use it. The breakfast was sparse. Wouldn't recommend this establishment to anyone.
Old, overpriced, noisy everything
the lobby is not 10 feet off the highway and upon entering it says "the oldest lodge in the keys", not really something to brag about unless your place is like a museum. after parking next door in a rock and dirt parking lot you walk to your room. in defense of the place the room was clean and fairly well decorated. my problem was with the noise. the ac was a standard old floor model that vibrated and reverberated incessantly. I stuffed towels and removed the grate to no avail and wound up having a horrible nights sleep. I am a light sleeper when away although my son slept like a log. steep at $110 bucks a night. but it was the only place available that night without forking out $180+tax.
wah, wah, wah. won't be staying at a travel lodge anytime soon.
We had a great time!
Nice, quiet motel along the overseas highway. Great location in Key Largo, close to everything (diving, fishing, kayaking). Rooms were clean and decent sized. We liked the fact the entire motel was non-smoking. Even the immediate pool area was smoke free.
I would not book this hotel again! My husband and I along with our daughter and her three children had two rooms reserved. We checked in early - about 12pm knowing that we would not be able to get into the rooms. We went on to Key West, thinking we didn't have to rush to get back. We arrived back at the Inn about 10:30pm. OUR KEYS WOULDN'T WORK!!! Finally a lady opened one of the doors we were assigned. They had given our rooms to other travelers. We were given two other rooms. But had we arrived after 11pm, there would not have been anyone in the office. For $129/per room; we certainly expected better!
