It continued to rain all the while I made the dangerous descent the next day. I slipped over in a very undignified manner on at least five occasions, my feet unable to get foothold in the mud. On one occasion my legs, that had by now no power of recovery left me in a mess. I was rescued by my porter-guide and felt more than a little useless.
