They hatch in September and then leave for Africa, but one of the fisherman (who was also selling blue crab meals from his boat at the mouth of the river) was able to bring "Sultan", a 100 year old loggerhead turtle to the surface by feeding him the blue crab. Port to Crete, Greece

Tot onze verbazing wordt het hele strand van plastic en ander vuil geschoond en in plastic zakken gedaan en afgevoerd, dus zo kan de Turkse jeugd (+/- 30 jarigen) zich ook gedragen. Wij brengen de dag door met lezen en zwemmen, naar andermans muziek te luisteren en de warmte te trotseren die in de boot 38 graden is, in de schaduw buiten met een windje 34 graden bij een watertemperatuur van 29 graden. ... in them but there was also no wind, having died completely in the late afternoon while I was messing around. Next day proved a bit better with strong but very gusty winds in an off shore direction. They say you should never kite in an off shore wind as the wind direction takes a kiter - especially a beginner like me - straight out to see. But we had a tender to come along with me and pull me out of the water - at least I thought so. ...

Added to all that, I've also eaten something dodgy yesterday and have really upset tummy, so as soon as I settled in my room today, I was straight out to a pharmacy for tablets and electrolytes. So glad I'm no longer spending hours upon hours on the tour bus. I will miss everyone on the tour and made some great friends, young and old, but I most definitely ready ...
