Marrakesh, Marrakech-Tensift-Al Haouz, Morocco cariverga... said come and have a cup of tea with me, first we said no no its ok. Then we realised that it was a morrocan man that we had met last night in the bar that emigrated to Australia so we went and had a cup of peppermint tea with him. Whilst I was using the toilet he invited himself out to eat with us so we went and got ready and went back to meet him, I was having reservations about going for a drink with them after and he said oh we can go in the car for a ...
Marrakech, Morocco traceybelle... went to ring Danielle and then went to look at a restaurant that we had got a flyer for in the day it did not open until 7 so we went to the square in the evening it comes alive with street food sellers and snake charmers Ian made the mistake of taking a picture then that was it the snake man came over and started putting the snake around Ians neck and they were demanding that I take a picture I said no as I know then that they want money and I only had 2d and I did not even ...
Marrakech, Morocco traceybelle... at 2am tomorrow! Fortunately, (1) we now have confirmed accommodations in Fez, and a driver from the Riad Dar Dmana will be there to pick us up at that early (late!) hour. (PS – a riad is a guesthouse with great Moroccan hospitality!) And (2), I am typing this journal entry happily ensconced in a 1st class train cabin, which is clean, does not smell, and (blissfully) is blowing cold A/C on us. We have learned from our past mistakes, you see.
Marrakech, Morocco annalisamurray... on this beautiful, HOT (about 90 degrees, but no humidity), clear, sunny day. We spotted a tourist office and popped in for a better map – and at that point, I was wise enough to ask the cost of a taxi from Ville Nouvelle to Medina, the Old City – about a 30-minute walk away. No more than ten dirhams, we were told (exchange rate is roughly 7.5 dirhams to one US dollar). (Back to last night’s cab ride, where we negotiated down from 50 to 35 ...
Marrakech, Morocco annalisamurray... And oh my, we had the best balcony seats in the house as the sun turned the scene to a rosy glow and the square came alive w/ smokey food stalls, snake charmers, jugglers, magicians, et al as darkness descended.

All in all, a most magical night to top off my fantastic adventures in Morocco.

Marrakech, Morocco globalgirl... the morning we had a couple of hours to ourselves. Had a look around the markets and the main street before heading off to our next destination, Essaouira which is a couple of hundred kilometers up the coast. Our first stop along the way was at a pharmacy type place where they made argane oil. It's made from a nut that grows on trees which resembles an almond. The oil is supposed to be healthy for cooking with and good for the skin so they make a lot of cosmetic ...
Marrakech, Morocco myates... Mosque & The Jemma el Fna This is basically the center of Marrakesh, here you can buy anything, In the markets off the main square you can find treasures but liberal haggling is an absolute must. I recommend to anyone to buy a Jehaba, which is traditional Berber dress, it kept me very cool and I think it looks wicked Don't pay more than 500, anyone more is a rip off, SERIOUS ...
Marrakech, Morocco explorer_harvey... vicious attack on the senses to say the least. It was way out in a suburban area, very seedy and a little unnerving to be out there and it was certainly on the bugle. Like, an orchestra of bugles. Think rotting carcas within vats of ****. By night, the Djamaa el-Fna transforms into a wild food fest and Moroccan carnival atmosphere, with witch doctors telling stories, the loud rumble of beating drums, smooth tunes of the snake charmers and one dude playing guitar with a chicken on his head ...
