          Where Did The Week Go?

A travel blog entry by erinanded on Mar 04, 2015

Wow where did the last week go? After returning from Cartagena we had a week to get our pods packed and move out of the house. I also had to squeeze in two days of work, in my last official week in the office. The pods were delivered Tuesday morning just as I was leaving for work. They seem smaller than I imagined (I think they are 5x6x8), and I was worried we might not be able to fit everything. Fortunately we ended up selling a few things we ...

Despite a sunny start the fog came down again because of the nearness to the river. It is quite a wetland area. We left hwy 101 and took the 255 to Eureka via the bridges over the Humbolt River connecting Woodley Island. The fog disappeared so we had a walk round Eureka's Historic Old Town. Pity the shops were not open! We had a little more fog leaving Eureka. It it did not last long. Again we ...

After leaving Stanford, we headed north for a brief visit to wine country in Napa, and did a tour of the Robert Mondavi Winery.

          Lessons learned:

          1. It is possible to make white wine from red grapes as long as you remove the red skins.
          2. Making wine is serious business in this part of the world.
          3. In California, Starbucks are nearly as numerous as Subway sandwich shops. Fro Yo shops are a rarity.

          San Rafael: déjà vu

... my stuff whenever possible. I do however think that by the time I get up to Canada next week it will be nice to settle down in one place for a while and have a place to call 'home' for a few months. I had planned to go to Muir Woods on Tuesday, a big forest near San Rafael that's apparently really beautiful, but it rained all day so I decided not to go. Got to leave something to do whenever I'm over here next time I guess ...
