It was a long day of driving. We left Regina in early morning and passed through more prairie land and wheat fields into Manitoba. We drove through fields of wheat, some harvested and some awaiting harvest. We saw a few fields of corn, sunflowers, potatoes and one large field of cabbages. We ...

... bekommen. Und es hat sich gelohnt. Wir haben sogar unsere ersten freilebenden Pelikane und kanadische Wildgänse gesehen. Unser Endziel war der Rushing River PP südlich von Kenora. Es war eine wunderbare Mondnacht. Die Wölfe haben wir auch heulen gehört.

We're staying at a homey B&B tonight in Kenora. It's the first major 'town' after leaving Manitoba. Looking at the map, there is still quite a bit to go to get to Ottawa... Never really realized how big the province is. We crossed another time zone too, but that just means going to bed one hour earlier which suits us just fine.

... There are several marinas, houseboat rentals; aircraft charter businesses, wilderness adventure locations but no big industry. The only logging mill shut down. Interestingly, an old timer told us that several houses on secluded islands are worth millions and ANY house valued over $400k is being bought up in a few days whereas the $200k are not moving. It came down to the last day but we had sucess! At 11 this morning we were hunting a large vut and ryan was walking up a tot road and there he was walking towards him....one shot 40 yards offhand and dropped him! 8pts 190 pounds! I joined him and we cleaned it out and starting dragging at Noon..m1e were 1.5 miles to the truck. Well about 45 minutes later ...

... I had a doubt about the existence of this contraption at all.....but see the pics!! We drove into the town (Kenora 16,000 people) afterwards and it is beautiful and full of seaplanes at the marina (for chartering fishermen to the northern outback fishing spots). The downtown area is very quaint - we could stay here awhile, but Lake Winnepeg is waiting!
