What an amazing day! After the terrible weather yesterday we woke to a beautiful sunny day this morning. We got up early to take advantage of the sunshine and had an earlyish breakfast (about 7.30) and by by about 8.15 we were out walking around the lake, at least as far as the camping ground area. ... floors with interactive exhibits throughout. The descriptions were in Slovenian and English as were the other museums and exhibits. The third floor was the best with history of the 20th century. They had little games you could play to test your skill and knowledge. Afterwards we needed a break and the WC. ... oldest castles in Slovenia, it dates from the early 11th century. The castle is built around 2 courtyards on different levels and includes a museum on the history of the area and a 16th century chapel with frescos on it's walls. There was also a resident 4th generation blacksmith present, showcasing his skills. ... The receptionist phoned several other hostels near by which were all fully booked again. I was thinking that I would of had to sleep rough again. Luckily she phoned Sax hostel which had beds. The only problem was that it was a 30 minute walk away but in a better location because it was by the river. I reserved my place and set off for the long walk which laid ahead of me.

... t go out again tonight; I'm very tired and although Squirt won't admit to tiredness ever, she was quite happy to sit and play cards with me and then play on her tablet. Tomorrow we have a few hours left for a final wander round Ljubljana before back to Zagreb and the funky Red Room this time. On Thursday we are, all being well, going to the Plitvice Lakes, a highlight of the trip for me but I need to be a lot less tired to enjoy it as it's a very energetic day with a 5am start!
