... the castle was that it grows the offspring of the oldest grape vine in Slovenia and that they used to leave prisoners exposed to the elements in outside cages and forget about them... kind stuff.

After the castle we checked out the Dragon Bridge and Triple Bridge which were very sweet and then heard a story about the naked woman statue in the centre of the square- apparently the religious zealots kept trying to cover her with clothes ...

Next morning we walked early in a sunny morning with Ljubljana waking up. People were cycling to work, cafes setting up, smell of bread baking, town clock chiming on the quarter, half & hours & church bell on the hour. The church is Franciscan, pink stone, dedicated to Our Lady. Beautiful frescoes & chapels inside & scaffolding for reinforcement work. A charming taxi driver met us & chatted all the way to the station. ...

... you couldn't see the top from the train’s window as well as the occasional small town. The train mostly travelled along a single track out in the middle of nowhere, with only a few visible roads the entire journey when we came across the small towns scattered throughout the countryside. It was a good day to spend on the train as it was overcast and rainy for most of the journey with a few clouds hanging low over the one small town in particular.

We met up with Carolyn, whom we had made acquaintance at Bled who was misinformed on bus times and missed her bus and was also staying at the hostel. It was not long before we discovered that the hostel was offering some free wine and board games and our host brought out some liqueur, schnapps and the promised wine and lined us up.
