All Pride, All the Time

... on this famous Swedish choreographer who did the choreography for My Fair Lady and Camelot. (Amanda, I totally thought of you while watching the My Fair Lady rehearsals!) Can't get better than that for free. I spent from 16.00 to about 21.00 in Pride Park. Basically it's this big park with tents and a couple stages. There were events at the tents going on and performers all night on the stages. Mainly it was singers, but there was an awesome female duo of trapeze ...

Michael of Stockholm, where are you!!!!

... in the city (according to the water taxi "guide") where rock stars and millionaires live. I wanted to see it anyways, it looked lovely. Michael and I walked through the park, for a long way, taking pictures and seeing the sites. Then back towards where we had come from towards the Strand, over a bridge to the boulevard, and there it was beckoning to us. A hot dog stand! As we ordered one each (to use up the last of our Swedish Crowns, or Kroner ...

Finally, I can afford to eat again!!!

... photographed, and there was an asterisk next to the name of a young man named Carlos. It said "Shot and killed since these photographs were taken." Carlos' story included him recounting how they lit a still-living guy on fire, chopped his head off, and passed it around. The slums of Mumbai serve a very important purpose - they are a sort of unofficial recycling plant for the city. Apparently, Mumbai would choke on its own refuse without assistance ...

Good Old Pippi Longstockings

On Monday morning, I sadly said goodbye to Lise and headed to the train station. I figured out how to buy my ticket into the main station and then headed to platform 26 (all of the other platforms were from 1-about 15 and then jumped to 26). I kept hearing announcements for my train and how we should be boarding, but where I was standing there was no train! I finally realized that the 26 that I was standing next to had an arrow pointing to ...

... to a hostel in the old town which was nearer the Viking Ferry terminal where my ferry to Finland was leaving the next morning. I cheated this time and took the metro which after avoiding it for days was actually very easy to use. I had a early start the next day so I planned a early night. Big mistake in the old town because it is full of bars and night clubs. The noise finally settled around mid night(or maybe I finally feel asleep).

Stockholm, Sweden

... Boston. Down by the harbor, basically island hopping (Stockholm is made up of a bunch of islands with bridges connecting them all). It was just what we needed, having no time limits, no where to be, just enjoying everything that was there. The weather was beautiful as well which just added to the "paradise" of the day. We had dinner reservations that night for 7pm at a nice Italian restuarant. So all of us walked back to the hotel and got ready. This ...

Home again

... Emma have grown so tall! And she really had. Everyone back home didn't notice since they have seen her everyday but I did. A few hugs and tears later we start walking towards the car that Mom of course had forgot where she parked! Mom started driving but I soon asked if I could. Lets face it. I have not been driving much the last year and I was eager to do it again! So we stop and change, and Anna tell me: "Do not drive on the wrong side now!" But the first thing I do ...

What Did Jolene Do... in Stockholm 2007

... 3: I had a couple of things that I needed to get and wanted a cheaper alternative to shopping malls. So I woke up early this morning and headed for the largest flea market in Scandinavia. It was disappointing. It was small and pale in comparison to the ones that I have visited in the US. I had to pay 15kr (~$2) to get in. The rain clouds are starting to appear and I quickly returned to my apt to wait out the rain. Sure ...

From Russia With Love Part I

... on it but as we got closer to Heathrow it started to fill up full of Heathrow workers until there was standing room only. We were very chuffed we got our seats. When we arrived at Heathrow we got a bit lost but eventually found the signs for Terminal 3. We had checked in online so were expecting to have a trouble free journey onto the plane but boy were we wrong.!!!! When we arrived at the SAS check in area there was a board announcing that our flight to Copenhagen had been completely ...

Sun stroke in Sweden!

Yes Sarita and I got sunstroke in Sweden! Our last day was absolutely beautiful and we spent all day out in the sun - first visiting Stockholm's zoo, open air museum and national park (which is the only national park in the world within a city). Then we met up with a friend of Sarita's who we went out to lunch with and then he showed us a nice walk around the city. Stockholm is built on ...
