... While laid up in Topeka I walked to Home Depot and got some JB Weld and made a stronger repair on my clutch lever. It broke before I got out of the parking lot . . . . No worries a little Gorilla tape put the clutch back in business.

... htm) The cafe was highlighted on the Food Network channel on the show "Best Pies Made With Eggs". Jeff and I shared a piece of their infamous lemon meringue. It was delicious and well worth the stop. As I am typing this post, we are driving west on I-70 towards Kansas City. Our plan is to drive to Manhattan, Kansas where we will spend the night. I saw a sign off the highway and followed it on a whim. I'm glad that I did.
The Log Cabin and surrounding buildings were really cool. There were a bunch of people walking around and doing work in costume. There were some women cooking a meal, and people tending the garden. They were using period tools, and it was kind of cool. Puppy liked it a lot. ...

... I'm excited to think that the next entry might be logging 1000 miles.
Greenup Illinois is a small community in rural Illinois. It is home of Abe Bowman, Pitcher for the Cleveland Indians in 1914-1915 with a record of 2-8 and 4.74 era. It is also the home of Cy Warman, author from the late 19th century who became famous after writing about his train trip from NYC to Chicago in 1892 and then went on to write a series of railroading stories as well as popular songs.
