      Fabulous stay in Goreme

      from

We just loved the Kelebek !!!!! Even though there was a glitch in our reservation upon our arrival, the staff immediately came up with an alternative to rectify the situation. We stayed in the Boutique section.........well worth it. Our "fancy cave" was spacious, and beautifully decorated in traditional Turksih design. Our suite even had a wood burning fireplace. And how much more unique can you get than a cave???? The bathroom was large and luxurious in marble.

Kudos to the cook at the Kelebek. We chose to eat dinners right at the hotel. The meals were delicious and reasonably priced. We didn't see any reason to go anywhere else. Breakfast was included, and had a very good assortment of items as well, including eggs made to order.

The staff at the Kelebek couldn't have been any nicer. Serap, the tour coordinator, is just lovely; and an encyclopedia of knowledge about the area and Turkish history. We would stay at the Kelebek in a heartbeat. In fact, I'm looking forward to visiting again.

      Lovely Pension in Goreme

      from

I booked this hotel because of the good feedback from other travellers who stayed in this cave hotel. I stayed in this pension for merely one night but we found the place very good interms of both qaulity and proce. The room and the bathroom were clean and of reasonable sige. The breakfast was also good and contained sufficent varities for customers of diffenent places (I came from Asia) to choose. I also found the staff friendly. The pension was not far away from the centre of the town, being a few minutes walk from the centre of Goreme.

      A wonderful hotel

      from

I have stayed at the Kelebek on a number of occassions over the past 4 years and each time I have been impressed. The decor is wonderful, all rooms individually styled, the rooms are clean and the whole hotel has the feel that you would expect from Goreme. It is relaxed, warm and inviting. A definite must!

      Wonderful hotel

      from

The Kelebek (Butterfly) is a wonderful place to stay in a wonderful part of Turkey. The suites/rooms are spacious comfortable, cool and dark (they are carved out of rock after all). It is set high up, 5mins walk from centre of Goreme. You can see the air balloons touching down at the bus station at 6am in the morning. The food was superb. Staff were helpful without being over the top. Just right in fact for a place to relax after a hard day exploring the wonders of Capadocia. Excellent value for money.

      Great hotel to enjoy Goreme

      from

Very nice, clean hotel with helpful and friendly staff. The bathrooms are impeccable. The restaurant/bar offers good food and a great environment to sit and overlook Goreme. Good Turkish breakfast.

Not all rooms have views, so be sure to ask which ones look out over the village/landscape. Prices are competitive compared to other places in Goreme. Kelebek has less of a cave "feeling" than some others that we looked at. Perhaps not as authentic if you're looking for the rustic experience, but overall, great place to stay with impeccable rooms and great service. You should probably call ahead as it can fill up.

      Shangri-la

      from

My friend and I stayed at the Kelebek boutique hotel for 4 days in October.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this hotel and the staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

We stayed in the stable room and were thrilled with the rose garden as you stepped out of our door. We spent a wonderfully quiet and serene time in the garden just reading.

If you need to "get away from it all" to recharge, this is the perfect place.

And if you do go, don't miss out on the Hot air balloon ride over Cappadocia, it is breathtaking.

Fabulous quaint pension with wonderful friendly people!

      from

Was making a road trip in Turkey with a friend and of all the places we stayed the Kelebec was the best! We were made to feel so at home and when my friend and I were unforgivably lazy one morning they kept breakfast for us until we got up.

A beautiful spot with laid back atmosphere, fabulous staff and stunning views. Would go back again tomorrow.

Can recommend a walking tour of the Rose valley with Ali - highlight of holiday!

      Beware!!

      from

The location is wonderful. The rooms are sweet. It seems idilic. It goes south very fast! The breakfast is one of the worst we saw (we stayed at 4 different hotels around Turkey). The main problem, though, is the service. We experienced a horrible night with a party just outside of our windows till 1:00 am. When we tried to complain, we were told by the owner that we could "pack up our things and find a new hotel". It was the worst night of our holiday which was otherwise perfect!

There are so many wondrous cave hotels in Goreme. Our suggestion is try another one.

      Loved Kelebek Suites

      from

The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the suites are very cozy. Our room (the "Ahi") was large with a patio overlooking the valley. The room was tastefully decorated, complete with heated floors in the bathroom, and a water pipe on one of the tables. It was my favorite place that I stayed at in Turkey and would recommend it it highly to anyone.

Great place to stay, with friendly service

      from

We stayed at Kelebek Pension in Goreme starting from July 17 for 3 nights. What we really loved about this pension is the friendly staff. There are plenty of other reasons to love this place such as unbeatable views, very comfortable cave rooms, great value for the money, and the delightful breakfast bar. But at the end, it is the hospitability of the friendly staff (of local people) makes us want to stay there again.

      Highly recommend it.

      Balloons over the desert

Cappadocia has long been famous for its weird rock formations, with 'fairy chimney' rock pinnacles inhabited by cave dwellers for many thousands of years. In every direction stretch ridges of yellow, pink and white rock formations from rounded and undulating to downright pointy. These days the landscape is indeed still glorious, the early …

Day 3 I simply rested and checked out Uchisar Castle. The next day I did a 20km walk around Capadocia.

What an amazing place. There is a lot of natural beauty in Turkey. Yes, Capadocia's overrun with tourists but sometimes it's fine to go to a place like that especially when it's nature. Basically there are lots of conical sandstone rock …

      To Cappadocia via Kayseri

The drive from Kaharamanmaras to Kayseri was 200 km of beautiful mountain and plateau terrain, and Kayseri was a very pleasant large city (about 500,000 I think). We stopped in the city centre to see the black-stone constructed Black Citadel, which was once a part of the city's defenses but is now the grounds for a marketplace. The walls were st...

Forgive me, but this is gonna be a lengthy one.

After boarding the overnight train, which was surprisingly comfortable, we arrive in Ankara about 12 hours later. A brief stop for breakfast at the train station and away we go.

Traditionally our tour spends no time in the capital and heads straight out for Kapadokya, but our tour...
