... I don't think we were there anywhere near long enough. That said, three nights in Jakarta was more than enough for us, I can't say I'll be rushing to go back. The traffic is mental and because there's no obvious city centre, if you want to go anywhere you spend all day in the back of a taxi going only marginally faster than walking pace. The only reason for going there in the first place was to to get a connecting flight to Borneo. Our trip to see the orangutans, on ...

Although, when it came to blow drying my hair at the end I think I stressed them out totally with my thick, curly blonde hair. They had to bring in the "straightening expert" to handle me. ... there was no chance to find anything open.

The night was uncomfortable, as you can imagine but we made it and found a hotel by midday the next day. It is in the Jalan Jaksa area, which is supposed to be where the tourists go. This is what I knew of this city before I started traveling: it is big, it is home to 20 million people, it is ugly, messy and too crowded. Well I am sad to say that I was spot on. The city is just completely chaotic with zero ...

... Dumbass Wander past the rip off cabs and get in a bluebird taxi. It costs 3 quid to get is all the way home, which is 4 times further than the earlier cab, and we're stuck in traffic for twenty mins. This includes an 18% tip On the way out of Ancol though the whole area is a dillapidated slum with loads of kids and old people sat round in the mid round fires made of rubbish. Massive contrast to all the rich people inside paying superinflated prices and being charged ...
