Swiming in clear cool pools, sleeping in huts, sleeping on warm sand....yes we did it all. Felt like we were traveling with James Mitchner or Somerset Maugham. Minus the angnst. The noodles plus one had a great time. The additional noodle has been named pastina....you will have to ask one of the noodles for details.
Ko Chang, Thailand aok540 Managed to get to the Eastern Bus Terminal in Ekamai, Bangkok for the "late" bus to Laem Ngob at 9.45am, which took around 5 hours, in "first class" no less - seemed like a normal coach to us! Arrived at the pier for the ferry to Koh Chang in the sweltering heat for the 45 minute ferry journey to the Centrepoint pier on the east side of the island.
Managed to find a "taxi" to the KC Grande, which was really a Toyota pickup with seats in the back - nothing like the comfort of Bangkok ta...

... Communist Khmer Rouge (supported by unhappy peasants and others who did not like the current government) to take power by force and take the relatively stable country of Cambodia and turn it into a forced work and death camp for millions. Lon Nol than escaped into exile to avoid being executed by the KR. This was the extremely abridged version of history but you get the point...

Then on April 17th, 1975 the Khmer Rouge evacuated the ...

koh rang, Trat, Thailand blummo... I decided to get my Scuba Certification the week we stayed here. (Upon talking to people I found out my scuba dive master had died. He was a middle-aged, grumpy English man, but I had nothing against him so it was sad to hear.)

When we arrived Kai Bae this time we explored the beach and found the Bungalow that we stayed in 5 years ago! Since it was the start of rainy season and very low season for tourists we got a great deal ...
Ko Chang, Thailand kytravels... We ended up staying a dodgy hotel, you had to walk through some girly bars to get to it and im not sure there were many other guests. Was not the best, the 3 people we met, (Scot, Swiss and American) moved rooms about 3 times due to dodgy locks and insects etc. But hey who needs to spend time in your room when theres beach front dining to be done! Had a classy meal on tables on the sand ahhhh. Spent the last few days chilling on the beach, its so hot all you can ...
Ko Chang, Thailand emmaandemma... our kayak up and then snorkling. The first island we visited was just the perfect size: we snorkled all the way around it in about one hour. I was impressed with how much we saw! There was almost as much as when I went scuba diving in Sihanoukville: clownfish, lots of corals, sea urchins (which I also accidentally sat on...ouch), and lots of little fish. It was really wonderful, and so exciting to have all the freedom in the world to just snorkel around this little island that no ...
Koh Chang, Thailand myriam_123... turtles. They don't have a lot of information unfortunately, but at the moment there are 36 small marine turtles swimming around in 3 tanks here. We're assuming that they collect the eggs and raise them until they are big enough to have a chance to survive on their own (more or less the same as the project we helped with on Galapagos last year). I know that it is slightly more complicated for marine turtles since they only ever ...
Koh Wai, Thailand varney... a beach the other side of the pier. It was lovely, very few people there, coconut palms over the sand and gentle lapping waves. The water wasn't perfectly clear though but it was emerald green and as mine and Rosies first experiences of a proper tropical beach it was pretty good. Next day me and Bryn went out on a deep sea fishing trip. The day started well when I caught a couple of quite small fish but as soon as everyone else started catching fish (except ...
Koh Chang, Thailand warty007... at 3 a.m., got in a cab (I was surprised to know that they also drive on the other side of the stree than us!) and had them bring us to our hotel which was the sketchy-est place I had ever seen in my life! I'm sure it did not help that it was very very early in the morning and only the cookoo's and drunks were out, but still, it was pretty nasty and kind of in the slums...haha well actually the cab brought us to the wrong one and then we had to walk about 5 mins to the right ...
