Hua Hin

Ok, so the last time I updated I was in Bangkok. We left the hostel around 11 and got a cab to the bus station. Cab took about 40 min. to get to the bus station. The cabs in Thailand are a little bit safer/not as scary as in Vietnam. So we get to the bus station and get out ticket to Hua Hin. We found the bus and it took off about 5 min. after we got our bags on and seated. It started out ok, the bus wasn't very good but it had AC so we couldn't complain. We heard that the ride was supposed t...

And the Saints go Marching on, on , on.......

16th May 2003: I killed Tim today, no I mean I killed time. I really had nothing to do until the bus came so I walked about Chiang Mai, got myself some food, and generally just mooched. What can I say about Chiang Mai, it's not what I expected with fast food chains everywhere, all American, and even the markets concentrate on the Western customer with the main selling T-shirts, shorts, hats, and other fashion accessories, which simply makes me sick. Not because I'm against it, its just with t...

Sawat Dii Kap from Bangkok

We left Koh Lanta in a taxi van for the ride to Krabi. This trip which took 2 hours by boat, took 3 hours by van and required two ferry rides. The ferry's on this trip made the Hornby Island ferry look like the QEII but we stayed dry so what else would one want? From Krabi we hopped on a big bus for the 14 hour ride to Bangkok which was long and uneventful with a couple of stops at road side open air restaurants where we grabbed a bite to eat and used the facilities. We were dropped off on th...

One more night in Bangkok...

Today, I spent much of the morning trying to get US dollars on a cash advance on my VISA. The first bank I went to wouldn't do it (green bank), but then I found another bank (yellow bank) that would! Yay! Unfortunately, they gave me my money in $100 dollar bills, which will probably be an adventure to break, but beggars can't be too choosy!

I spent most of the day wandering around places I had already seen ...

And that was it for South East Asia. We were finished, and all there was to do now was head to the ginourmous and futuristic airport and argue with our driver over the inflated fare. Good times.

GOOD TIMES!

Happy Endings!!

... four hours later I am back in my hotel room with fantastic memories of my last night in Bangkok. The French men could have stayed out much later, it 1 AM, Mr. Som picks me up at noon for some last minute sightseeing.

Tomorrow I leave by train to Chaing Mai. I reserved a 1st class overnight sleeper to experience the old romantic way of travel.

Haven't we been here before?

... it and not encourage it by buying or looking at the products. We moved on and found some lunch while our underwater disposable camera from the first the first snorkeling trip around Koh Tao was being put on dvd. So when we've got them put onto this computer (we don't have dvd/cd drive on the little computer) I'll upload any good ones. We headed back to the hotel early this afternoon to chill out in the pool as the temperature was about 34 today. I think we've ...

I was told that they do this three times and as a Buddhist they are required to make the journey to Bangkok once in their lifetime. The majority of the buildings were covered in coloured glass to give the appearance of gemstones.

Sensory Overload

... can prepare you for the complete meltdown of at least 2 of your 5 senses. Smell is obviously the first to go.

The initial inhale of Bangkok is tough to describe but, if you put a container of rubbish in the middle of AZ for a summer and opened it up and took a whiff, pretty close. Not that it completely smells like garbage, but there is so much variety of food, trash, b.o. , humidity and many more ...
