... said the bus to Tomonoura left from Platform 15... Looking around at the barren landscape we started to panic. ... and admiring the great temples to seafarers and merchants on the hill was a great. The pathways are lined with what is essentially a stone fence, made of tall rectangular stones, engraved with Japanese writing. Overhanging these are cherry blossom trees in full bloom almost glinting in the sunlight. For me though the highlight is the walk up to the shrine at near the top of the mountain. ... I am glad I checked the weather forecast, which predicted rightly so.
Tomorrow should be better, but still a bit of rain. That's why I decided not to cross the mountains towards Kochi, instead I ride eastwards along the sea to Sakaide, frome where I cross a very long bridge back to the Honshu.
From there I will move slowly in to the direction of Kyushu,probably one more visit Hiroshima,to finally reach Kagoshima, from where the ferry leaves for Okinawa ...

... good hiking. The villages along the way were tucked into the valleys and were all quite small. Not sure what they do there as it felt that it was quite remote even though you are only 50km from a very industrialised part of Japan. A car is the way to go so you can take your time and explore. Next time!!!
