My stay here was my one and only night at a ryokan in Japan. These are traditional guesthouses which have tatami mat floors (woven mats) and you sleep on futons. Included is food and breakfast which is had kneeling or sitting in a dining room (also tatami mat). In this building sound carries well. I rode south wards from the city of Onomichi, crossing several island connected with bridges, to finally reach Imabari on Shikoku.
