... de. We had purchased some cheese, bread and fruit for a picnic lunch and stopped just off the highway to eat and drink some apple champaign. We stopped at a woodworkers tourist shop and looked at some carvings. We headed to our B and B in Ramsau and had a nice dinner in the local pub. ... us back to the bus stop and when we asked was there a bus coming soon, he answered "nein", which we knew to be no. He took off and we stood at the bus stop deliberating our options and along came a taxi, what luck, piled in and headed for home, but wait is our taxi driver the shuttle driver ????? It turns out that there is a connection with Mannheim here because Elector Carl Theodor was made Prince of Bavaria in the mid 18th Century and relocated south where he reformed the salt mining industry. Despite progress, he wasn't too popular though and he once remarked that Pfälzischer Wein (wine from the province) was better than Bavarian beer!
