Thursday 16th October Sad to say goodbye to Halstätt and our guesthouse but onward. Walked around the end of the lake in the rain, but luckily it was light and only lasted about half an hour. Along another track with lots of trucks for a while, but mud was only on the surface, so all good. Then across the river and along the railway till we got to Koppenbrüllerhöhle. ... the next bus arrives. Nevertheless, as things quieted down it was the perfect time and place for us to grab lunch and rest up a bit.

... 35 minutes with one stop on the way. Views from the top were 360o and superb on such a clear day. Could see everywhere we had walked and where we are going pretty much. Ride back down was quite jolting as the cogs were engaged. Back at the base we then explored the town of St Wolfgang. This town is just beautiful with magnificent Austrian architecture. Friday 10th October Leisurely breakfast this morning and time to catch up on news before catching the bus to Bad Ischl, about 70 km east of Salzburg. Bus journey was through lovely green pastures with plenty of cattle grazing. Even saw some with bells on! Stopped at a lovely little village Fuschl on the most picturesque lake. Such an idyllic view.
