      Inside the museum there of many of the items discovered during the excavations, dating from Mycenaean period, 13th century BC.
      Many of the statues are without heads. Apparently the Romans bulk made statues and then customised the heads. This caused the odd anomaly, an old senators head on an athletes body!!
      The museum also has a record of the existence of any ancient Jewish Synagogue.

      Eventually the winds decreased and we were able to leave Mykanos and head west towards the Saronic Gulf and the Corinth Canal. After stopping off in Finikas, Nisos Siros and Loutra on Nisos Kythnos we crossed to mainland Greece and the harbour of Lavrion after calling in to Olympic Marina for fuel.

      Today we rented a car and drove through downtown Athens to escape to the Greek countryside. We only got lost a few times and honked at a few more times. The drive took 2 hours to Nafplion and it was worth the effort. Nafplion is a pretty resort town and is an escape for the wealthy Athenians.       ... to swim, read on the beach, then around 4 pm, went to look around for a place to rent scooter. After with some negotiation, we got the deal of reduced price and off we went to the fuel station first. Fuel 3 Eruo worth benzine and then off we went on the Round Tour de Spetses. The Island is mostly populated on the North Side, while on the South Side is very rocky, the landfill is there, some very expansive villas with helipads (!!) and with some smaller beaches.
