Another tender to get ashore. From the sea, a dramatic view of the steep cliff face on which the township of Fira, Santorini, is perched. I chose the donkey ride to take us up over 1,100 vertical metres rather than the cable car, and convinced mum to join me, what fun! Wandered around the clifftop maze of typically narrow streets with most amazing sea views and those well-photographed blue-domed churches. Stopped for a tonic in a cafe/bar as Nanna was ...

Up and walked into town after our morning coffee. It was another beautiful day and we decided kleftikoto head to Volcano Blue because they have plug-ins for our computers and we can get a lot of work done while we enjoy the scenery and of course watch the people walking to and fro.

... will leave it up to you to work out who are / is the smart banana. The trip today is generally water based along with some doing and as always some learning as well. Our walk to the top of the volcano at a height of 127 metres on the middle island is done in flip flops by all of us, not something that any of us recommend, yes very slack planning. The walk was fine but it would be a struggle in any hotter temperature than what we encountered ( around the high 20's C) plenty of rocks ...

... that was also pulling in, and it turned out that this was in fact the Oia bus. Despite being one of the first people at the bus station and waiting 20 minutes, we didn't get a spot on the overcrowded bus, as people were rudely elbowing, pushing and running to get on. I was seriously ****** to say the least, having experienced the rudeness of people at crowded locations in Greece for the second time in days. I was ****** at people's lack of manners, the lack of organisation at the ...

Another thing ticked off my Bucket List

... prime viewing spots for whats been described as the most beautiful sunset in the world. I came across the old castle on top of the hill and managed to get the best spot on the edge with the most perfect view of Oia, the ocean and the sun. It was only about 7pm and the sun had another 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours before it would sink below the horizon. I sat there, waiting patiently, taking in my surroundings. The majority of the town of Oia is situated on a ...
