Today was out last day in Corfu :( Luckily the weather was amazing, blue skies and no clouds. We got out of the apartment early and drove to Kassiopi. Here we wandered around the harbour and looked at the Castle on the hill. My parents went to meet somebody about the house, so I sat in a cafe savouring my last Espresso Freddo. I'm going to miss them ! The Freddos (and i guess my parents too..).
Leaving Kassiopi, we went for one last visit to the ...

    Day 11

Woke up this morning to the sound of gunfire, followed by a heavy downpour. The shots appeared to have emanated from the flat downstairs. We had already had a few run ins with our neighbour. His name was Michael Kaizer, he was a soft spoken German man who wore yellow glasses. He reminded me of the stranger, from 'Stranger On the Third Floor'. Very, very creepy. I listened hard for the sound of a body being dragged around ...

We started the day in the courtyard of a little cafe called Piccolo. I ordered an Espresso Freddo and the was one the best cofees i've ever had. Freddos are a shot of coffee on ice, with a thick foam on the top. I need to find somewhere to get them back in Wellington because I'm hooked now. My dad had been to the bookshop and had bought me a copy of 'Notes of a dirty old man'.

... case someone slipped and sent him rolling down the cobblestones.
We watched the bands march through the town, finally congregating in front the Lindon cafes. Here they stood in the rain and played in turn, then marched back into the city. The whole occasion was watched over by a large crowd of Greeks, both from Corfu and the mainland, who braved the rain and cheered the bands. It was definitely worth getting out of bed for. ...

    ... get much better.
We visited a butchers, bakers and cheese shop to gather supplies for a trek my Dad had planned.
There were a few heated moments followed by icy silence as we got lost on the way. Classic car trip stuff.
The area we would be walking around was called the Ropa valley. Its a long, flat valley, nestled inside the circle of some of Corfu's highest mountains.
The walk was around four hours long. It started in the hill ...
