      ... 2 couples left. Thinking they might no know we were Princess, we asked and were let on the bus, which had been there the whole time. The driver informed us this was the last bus. Yikes! Just another proof it’s better to be lucky than smart.

      We headed out of town to Achilleion Palace, the retreat for the Empress Elizabeth of Austria. We had learned about her life when we were in Vienna last year. She built this house in Corfu in late 19th century style and decorated it with Gods of Ancient Greece, primarily Achilles for which the palace is named.       We arrived in Corfu in quite heavy rain. We had organized a hire car for €43 which was very reasonable, and decided we would continue on with our plans.
