... 90% of the ship was salvaged and reconstructed, amazing to see the wooden nails with heads about 2cm in diameter, and the carving. Pete was especially taken by the beautiful curve of the boards which would have been under water.

The second ship from Gokstad had the skeletons of two women with it, the bones were on display – one was about 50, the other around 80 and they could tell she had back problems, cancer, and a growth inside her skull ...

... I haven't been able to update since we left the apt in Copenhagen--the Internet has been down on the ship so no posting. Boo Hiss! I'm checking every so often to see if it will take my blog but no luck so far today.

**Update since we got home--I've gone online and added some of the Vigeland Sculptures that I liked from pictures I found on the internet. The photos don't do the sculptures justice but at least I can remember what they looked ...

... closest stop to my first couchsurfer's apartment. When I thought the struggle was over, I was mistaken. I spent the next hour and a half walking around Oslo, backpack and all, trying to find the correct building before the sun set. In the end, I finally found the apartment, a hot meal, and a place to put down my pack. Thank goodness!

... didn't just bang a twix and a bag of crisps in there though. No, slaughtered cattle, pigs and chickens, and even some flour, yeast and bowls and stuff so they could make bread.
