After I arrived at Narita International Airport at 23:00, I stayed overnight in a couch of the airport. On the next day, I headed for Naritasan Shinshoji Temple. The temple is famous and popular among Japanese and I was eager to go some day. When I arrived at the temple, there were only few visitors in the temple. I felt a bit uncomfortable at first, but I enjoyed strolling in their quiet garden behind the temple ...

We ended up leaving Denver almost 2.5 hours late. Impressively, we were only an hour late arriving in Tokyo. Despite having over 30 minutes to catch the next flight, United pulled our bags and rebooked us on a midnight flight. This was not terrible, certainly better than losing our luggage or having to handle the rebooking ourselves. The only catch was the new flight departs from Haneda airport, a solid 70 minutes across Tokyo. I'm writing this from the charter bus that ...

... in I found out it wasn't going to be running the next morning either, which would cost me another 3,200 yen. The taxi fees I expected to avoid by getting a hotel with an airport shuttle wound up being more than the cost of the room due to the limited hours of the shuttle. I checked in at 11:30. I asked for a 3:00 wake-up call. My room was next to the elevator shaft. It sounded sort of like Pink Floyd's Welcome To the Machine in my room.

... and don't care what people are going to say. New Zealand needs a little cultural infusion from the Orient! And luckily being slim helps when in Japan and I can daily buy clothing here! Another reason to live here next year!!

The train journey passing cities, rice fields on the way to narita airport was far to difficult. I have had so many truly amazing experiences with beautiful people that this trip has felt far ...
