I though I was Daniel in the lion's den

THERE ARE SIMPLE NO WORDS to describe what it feels like to lie down and pet a Tiger that's head is about three times as big as your own and paws bigger than your face. There just really isn't any words. I still remain speechless. it was like petting my Bengal cat at home but one a hundred times bigger. Petting the tigers in it's self was worth everything.

Swimming With Dolphins

... with dolphins. Very painful! There appeared to be 2 types of wish in the water, the smaller ones constantly nipped at our toes. The bigger fish didn't seem to mind the presence of humans either, they would often rub up against my legs. Several levels exist on the way up to the base of the waterfall; along the way are several monuments including an old Chedi and a pyramid. It almost has the feeling of a lost city buried in the jungle. A beautiful place.

Next stop: Krabi.

Day 11

... on the river and were taken there by Tuk Tuk a 3 wheeled kind of motorbike seating one couple. There were twenty five of them racing through Bangkok with police escort. Loads of fun. Bongkok is huge as we estimated we were in urban developed areas in excess of 150 miles on the day in and out today combined. Loads of pollution like any big city. The ...

Life in Porn Bungalows

Well, I left Samui on the evening ferry on route to Bangkok. I had paid a few extra quid for a VIP bus and worth every penny it was too. The government run VIP buses are like business class on wheels. The seat recline right back and you get a hostess and little snack boxes etc. Much more relaxing than those stupid minibus rip offs from tour agents. After our free tea in a road side café (some rice, water and a selection of Thai ...

Elephants and Yucky Things in Chantaburi

Ros: We've managed our first move from Bangkok without too much bother at all! We left our hotel at about 11am and had breakfast at the rather nice 'French' cafe around the corner, overlooking the river. Then we set off to the bus terminal to head for Chantaburi. We'd booked into a guest house we'd found recommended on the internet last night, so it was a relief to arrive today and discover the review was correct, and it's a ...

Chanthaburi

... surrounded by a river full of fish. Next we went to a bunch of temples and our host, her name was apple, showed us everything to do in a temple and bought us lunch and offerings at each temple. Last she took us hiking up to a waterfall where we got to swim. It was a blast. That night Leo Janette and I went to the market for dinner with a boy from Wisconsin named Erik. We all had such a good time!!! The next night Apple offered to cook all of us dinner ...

Pattaya Party

... about 34 to the dollar and you can see that this cheap in the US but a budget buster for us. But we sign up for 2 nights hoping to move into a cheaper place when the crowds leave. This is about a 4 star hotel; maybe 5, we have no way to judge. It is a very nice looking suite with two balconies overlooking the city and bay. Pattaya doesn't have the beautiful beaches of Phuket but it is packed with tourist and most of them are foreigners. They are mostly older ...

In with the new!

... The Songkran tradition is recognized as a valuable custom for the Thai community, society and religions. The value for family is to provide the opportunity for family members to gather in order to express their respects to the elders by pouring scented water onto the hands of their parents and grandparents and to present them gifts including making merits to dedicate the result to their ancestors. The elders in return wish ...

The Perks of Being Homeless and Unemployed.

... guest house, The Tree House Two, located on Long Beach, on the other, basically uninhabited side of the island. To get there involved a one hour plus drive on a winding, partially unpaved mountain road. While this sounded suspiciously like the plot of the book/movie The Beach, we decided to go for it, and after a few days took the songthao ride over there. The naseu inducing ride was well worth it! I do not think I have ever been ...

... to whom Jay had explained the whole stopping for gems thing, you know, gems, jewels, shiny things had misunderstood what we'd wanted. As we'd watched the road signs for Chantaburi go by with no signs of the driver slowing down, Jay tried valiantly tried again to explain that we'd missed our turn off, could we go back, only to find that the big guide had thought we were looking for jam, as he made spreading motions with his hands of buttering bread. After ...
