    ... this was one of those moments. We stopped to watch a road side street performance. We didn't catch much, since the language was Indonesian, but it was entertaining. The square outside the old Governors mansion was festive, with this being the Eid weekend. We joked that these were all the people who couldn't get a hotel outside the city.     Our last few days in Indonesia have been more low key, but we've managed to get out and do a lot of walking.

    We arrived in the city known as The Big Durian (not sure why) around 3pm, and feeling antsy after 8 hours on a train, we decided to walk the 2.6km to our hotel instead of taking a taxi.     ... After 8 hours in Jakarta airport (5 of which were spent sleeping on a bench) we finally boarded our final flight to Amsterdam!!!

    The flight was long...but luckily we got an extra seat in between us and both slept solidly for the first three hours! Once the sun came up we could see all kinds of awesome landmarks like really tall mountain regions with snow. As we got closer to Amsterdam and lower we could see heaps of cute towns too. ALMOST ...

    ... among the visitors and some windmill hunting. Have read about some brewery tours in Bruge so am keen to look into that plus a bike ride from Amsterdam to Rotterdam along the canals, 3 hours each way so I can see me loading bikes onto the train for the return trip as I have a feeling my ambitions are not on par with my fitness ! Anyway enough for now, I will try to send something every few days ...
