Turned out we were both on lower soft sleeper on the way to Xi'an from Shanghai, and the other two people didn't join until 9 so we had the first 2 hours to ourselves. Train wasn't bad, we left at 7pm and got in at 11am.

After lunch, we went to the Xi'an city wall. The wall is 12-14 meters wide, so it is very popular to walk around on, or ride bikes. It is also over 13km in length, so we decided to hire bikes. I then jumped the taxi queue by playing the dumb foreigner card which is useful on occasion, and had great fun telling my colleagues about this very thorough experience when I got to work.

... mum and baby along too, so as well as being totally topped-up on baby love, I got to have a private concert. Baby Bruce was really funny - every time they played a quiet-ish song, he would get restless, and when they did something with a bit of volume or a decent beat, he would go to sleep! He loved the music - check out his little pic as a drummer boy! A very placid wee lad, and I enjoyed the couple of hours he was here.
