A very quiet and peaceful evening, blessed with no midges as it was cold but this made the skies clearer and the light and colours spectacular. We walked a little, enjoyed our evening meal with some wine and a good, long sleep. En route to Tampere now for a look see and perhaps a shop before we find somewhere for the night, we shall see! Having been here before helped ...

... car park - the reason we were in Tampere in the first place. And it really is spectacular. A man made cavern some 20m wide and 10m high and perhaps a kilometre long all 30m under the streets of Tampere. The size and lighting made for a very airy feeling, quite at odds with the fact that it's a deep cave.

The ...

... freezing water. On my first go I hesitated before getting in the water, but then there were people standing behind me waiting to get in so I had to get in. After a few trips back and forth from the sauna to the water I got better at it. By the last go I was able to do panicky doggy paddles in the water before getting out. Today I tried the oldest sauna in Finland today, Rajaportti sauna (over 100 ...

... as commonly know around the world as its legendary undestroyable Nokia 3220 and 3330 :)

Thuomas was obviously in a hurry; he had to pick up his daughters from the kindergarten. Then he gave us a short ride around the city, giving advice where to go and what to see. After picking up the girls he took us to a special sightseeing tower built on a hill between two big lakes. He even offered to take our backpacks home where we ...
