Nathan here: woke up to a super beautiful day in Phuket. The sun was shining, blue sky and the temperature was well on its way to 30+ degrees. We're all loving our accomodations. The Karon Princess Hotel (http://phuket-karonprincess.com/) is located right across from Karon beach. Although this resort hotel is well over our daily budget, we decided to splurge and to give Cil the relaxing vacation she deserves. After breakfast, Cil received her envelope for the day - a roadblock. The clue read:...
Phuket, Thailand ntlockhartFrom Bangkok we took another unreliable bus to Phuket and scored an awesome deal in a 4 star resort called The Karon Princess on Karon Beach. Apparently it was the last week of the off season. We had a day trip to Phang Nga Bay & James Bond Island (pronounced Jays Boh eye-lan), which included sea kayaking and an excellent Thai cabaret show starring Johhny Bond, James's Thai cousin!! We also did a day trip in a speedboat (ala Miami Vice) to Ko Phi Phi, Maya Bay (the beach in the movie "The...

We started the day with breakfast at the cafe in the resort. We were ready for the 8:00 shuttle to get to the dock but our ride didn't show up until almost 8:30. We would learn from experience that the scheduled pickup time was a guideline more than anything. After the 30-40 minute ride to the northeast end of the island, we queued and waited our turn to board the boat. It was a double decker boat with 25-30 tourists and 8-10 guides and ...
Phuket, Thailand deeptiandron... I didn't know that was possible! It was also a classic example of what we have dubbed 'sly thai' where they rope you in by saying 'cheap cheap' and then hand you the compulsory drinks menu where all drinks (inc water) are over 500 baht (10 quid). We bargained and complained and got it down to 300, not quite sure why we were trying so hard to see this thing!!
Anyway, we went to bed soon after that as the sunburn was aching
... back and enjoy the truly fantastic views. And...get your breath back after walking all the way up there in the heat! When we visited the viewpoint, there was some information available there on the 2004 tsunami. Phi Phi was one of the worst hit areas, and many buildings on the island were flattened. There were many fatalities. The images which were included provided a chilling ...

I was having trouble keeping my head still and my eyes on the horizon so I just couldn't look down much and definitely thought I would vomit or fall over if I tried to clean up the goo. Some tour people eventually came down and started, and we found a towel and that helped. But at this point most people were inside and then there was one massive wave that rocked the boat almost completely over. Chairs, people and ...

Some are more popular than others, but they're everywhere. There are numerous bars and restaurants along the beach, as well as climbing shops. These are also found a few hundred meters inland. I stayed in a bungalow close to the beach with my own private bathroom (a real one with running water, sink, toilet, and shower ...
Hat Ton Sai, Krabi, Thailand summitmonkee... lifeless as he wrapped it around his head and brought it up to us for a closer look. The guy sitting next to me was petting it when it came back to life. I just about screamed. . . I won't lie. Pretty much the scariest moment of my life. The boy just threw it back into the pit and then caught it again and put it away. Crazy little boy! He then put on a similar show with 3 snakes at once called "jumping snakes." They had a wicked reach and I was squirming in my ...
