For mains they selected the Seared Yellowfin Tuna with an anchovy sauce and Niçoise salad and Truffle Honey Roast Chicken with mashed potatoes, asparagus, mushroom jus and truffle cream. The wine, a 2001 Chateau Leoville-Las Cases, "Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de Las Cases, 2emes Cru from St. Julien, Medoc, Bordeaux, what else to celebrate La Fete nationale.

    ... Stu gets a pad Thai and I have a pad see ewe. I'm not a big fan of my choice. Tastes a bit funny so I'm looking forward to the ensuing food poisoning. We limp back to the resort hot and bothered. The kids decide the cool confines of kids club are preferable so we drop them off. The carer there today is the same chick who did my nails yesterday.     ... get us drinks, drove us back to our hotel, offered to come to hospital with us to translate if we decided to go (we didn't), didn't charge us for the day (almost $200!), and allowed us to come back the next day! Amazing! They even assigned us the same elephant, so I was able to take care of Lucky the next day! I fell in love with her the 1 hour I spent with her and was bummed I was too ill to stay, so that was great! The experience was unreal. We learned to check ...

    ... for us to realise we weren't in the partying mood, it wasn't really the right place for us. The joke/fact of the holiday became how "old" and not extreme we are (Kirsty works for an extreme sports magazine... We were both to scared to try a surf machine in Kata Beach...). Having said that we enjoyed Long Beach, some of the beach bars were really chilled and we were lucky to watch one amazing fire show (guys you all really need to learn how to do fire dancing ...

    ... day decided to go into town, seen a sign for patong beach and decided to have a walk thinking it cant be that far as there wuldnt be signs if it was and was only 2 beaches away. Headed towards it, finding karon beach, lovely walk on nice paths thinking that was only 10 15 mins, cant be that far, 2.5 hours later, it was far and up and down mountain sides on roads, possibly not the best walk but still continued. Googled it, to find out ...
