Moved further towards Port Douglas today.
Stopped at Hydeaway beach as recommended by Luke, its is so peaceful, we were the only ones there!
On towards Bowen, a kangaroo crossed the road in front of us.

We then checked out where Luke worked for 4 months, just outside Bowen on a tomato farm. Most of the backpackers have since left, including Luke Rich & Rob. Fields are empty of crops as it heads to the wet season. Saw emus running freely on ...

... which (almost) backs onto the river. The river was really pretty to walk along and had lots of great birdlife and the manager and his wife were the loveliest people.
Townsville is both Army and Airforce, both of which gave us some interesting experiences. The airforce section is nearer to the coast, and as I was backing out of the BCF carpark there was an almighty big BANG. I jumped about 10 ...

... but that was the highlight. After Fraser and the beauty of The Whitsundays, we were pretty uninspired by the island.
