... went back to the room. The noise from outside didn't die down until about 1, which was a bit annoying, but it was a hostel so what do you expect. On Sunday we woke up to find out that New Zealand had won the World Cup. That was about it for that day. After spending quite a lot of money the day before, we didn't want to do much. If we went out into town again we would only have spent money on stuff to keep us amused. Instead we stayed in the hostel, supping on water. I created some ...

24th & 25th October

This part of the trip has turned out to be very social. We have now arrived in Townsville and are staying with Brendan and Annette. The suggestion of parking our van down the side of their hotel was met with some trepidation by Dean. ... taking it all in from a different view. All the bays on the island were stunning but some of our favorite were Horseshoe Bay, Radical Bay and Balding Bay One of the most unique offerings on the island was the weekly toad races. Every Wednesday night cane toads were auctioned off and money was lost or money was won. What was most shocking was the price that some of the toads went for, up to $100, which was definitely out of our price range! However, we did ...

... at SeaWorld I think is better. Next off for coffee and cake for me and gelato for Brad along The Strand. Juliette's has homemade gelato with amazing flavours and great coffee so we enjoyed our treats at the outdoor seating. Imagine eating gelato outside in Canberra in Winter whilst wearing shorts! The Strand is what the beachfront area is called here and it is really well done. Lots of parkland, play equipment, restaurants and accommodation plus the beach. It's ...
