Up and out of the hotel early for our tour of Quarazazate which includes the Kasbah of Taourit and the Glaoui Palace, Atlas Studios and the Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah. ... a small and very old berber village (17th century) that draws tourists from all over. It is built against a hillside and protected all the way round with steep defensive walls and towers angled for sighting the enemy. Like most garrison type communities, the granary where they stored their food was on the top of the hill....best that the last ones to get shot can get some food!

... to the far right side of the building (or left depending on which side of the building you were on). And while there was an effort to blend the hotel into the original structure, I thought it really destroyed what would have been a lovely looking ksabah.

So far, the tour of kasbahs were unimpressive. Perhaps these kasbahs were anti-climatic because I had been able to walk through an ancient ksar the day before and had been able to stay in a very quiet ...
