... spoke no English and made it clear that we were served two of everything so we had to pay for two of everything. (Incidentally we are well aware of the portion sizes in Morocco by now and we were served single servings on this occasion.)

  • A small soldering job was needed and two different people assured us they were able to do the simple task and charged accordingly, only for us to find each time it was wrong or so poorly done that ...

... the similar status. We met many cousins and nieces on our circuit and all without exception greeted us warmly offering us bread hot off the stones!!.

The village has grown significantly over 20 years, prior to this I suspect it had stayed the same for centuries. Many homes probably still have earth floors.

The Tamegroute Ksour, he explained was still a living city. It was recently government funded along the lines of a co-operative to assist the villagers in establishing businesses to earn income particularly from tourism, and in doing so, preserve their ksour culture ...

The orange/gold walls of the market town of Taroudant (little Marrakech) are well preserved and invite one to discover the city. Apparently the hotel "Gazelle d'Or" is a must. The flamboyant blue of the jacarandas dazzles us all along the city walls, but we continue our journey direction Taliouine, the saffron capital, Morocco's red gold.

... there was nowhere else to go!). This turned into another corridor which we walked down and at the end was our miracle! In this dilapidated non-funded rubble of a building were the most beautiful rooms, maybe three or four, with lovely stucco plaster archways, mosaic walls and painted wooden roofs....you could have been in the Alhambra in Granada! We could not believe this was the inside of the same building!
