First thing this morning we were all woken up by Lily shouting out at the top of her voice that Ruby was lying on the floor and pretending to sleep. Its a bit of a habit that she has got into lately so if she is awake then so is everyone else. I'm not sure why Ruby was on the floor or if she was pretending, we never did find out. It was another packing and moving day and since Jess had some work to do before we left it was all up ...

... bus to get on, that was no problem. I also found the right water bus, and that was all good. Except I didn't get off the right stop until I had gone all the way to the end of the
line, and then came back. I didn't know why they don't just write which stop is what on there signs? Any way I got there about 10 minutes late. not to bad considering.

I was the only one on my tour. Lucky me! I learnt so much more about my camera. Things I wanted to ...

Today was our final stop: Venice. This gorgeous city, at least the island part, has no cars, but instead transportation is accomplished either by walking or by boat in the canals. We chose not to go on a tour today, so we ended up walking around the city for a while. We headed to St. Mark's Square, which is home to St. Mark's Basilica. This church is so named because supposedly St. Mark's remains were recovered by Venetians from Alexandria in ...

... br> So, today was a long day of walking to the point that both our legs ache and Kamie is highly questioning his previous demands that we walk the 294 steps up to the top of the Leaning Tower of Pisa in a few days. I was so enthralled with my eyes today that I didn't eat but two gelato all day! The mint was good and the hazelnut so~so. Tonight, I skipped dinner and Kamie picked-up a small sandwich (prosciutto and funghi) at ...

... then go out for dinner to the restaurant recommended by Roberto on the first evening.

I have titled this entry day of contrasts because I left the hotel in brilliant sunshine but when I got to St Mark's Square it was shrouded in fog. The square was busy but not as crowded as yesterday, however there were still dozens if not hundreds of people queuing to go inside Basilica San Marco. Palazzo Ducale was closed and maybe if that had been open the queue would have been less, maybe ...
