We LOVED LOVED LOVED Kantary Bay - Thailand is a country with a reputation for the land of smiles, Kantary Bay is a hotel of smiles with attentive service. We stayed here for a month and after 6 weeks of hectic touring of India, we wanted somewhere that we could just chill - Kantary delivered and at the end of the month we didn't want to leave. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a 1 Bed Apartment and for a long stay, the extra space much appreciated. Great bathroom with spacious shower and a bath, hot water always plentiful and room cleaned every day, fresh towels daily. Excellent breakfast each morning. Free wi-fi was only available in the lobby - for a hotel of this calibre we do think this should be complimentary in the rooms but paid £30 for the month and were able to access on all devices in the room. The scenery surrounding the hotel is stunning, the roof top pool has the most gorgeous views. Kantary Bay is in a quiet location, limited number of restaurants in the resort so if you want something lively this wont be the place for you unless you are happy to pay for taxi into Phuket Town or Patong, could be expensive though there is a limited shuttle service from Kantary Bay to these areas (chargeable). If you are looking for relaxation in Thailand in stunning scenery in a friendly hotel which provides personal service, Kantary Bay might just be for you. We don't normally return to resorts but we shall certainly be returning to Kantary. A big thank you to all the staff, we are missing you already.

... while baffled hotel staff pleaded that we go inside to avoid the storm. There were about 15 of us lined up in the sea, all brits, determined to enjoy our holiday in paradise. The rain dancing on the waves around us and the sky black with cloud.
We stayed in the water for an hour and a half then went to the bar for a cup of tea. People do tend to fall into thier national stereo types. The Brits will be out in all weather and the Indians refuse to queue. ...
... up transiently near our arms. The tiny flashes of lights looked like static in the dark. It was very very pretty like delicate water fireflies. We left the tour with a huge adrenaline rush which made up for the more disappointing parts like Maya beach (the one made famous by a movie but way overcrowded and not even the prettiest cliffs). Because of the low tide we also took a complicated shortcut between two rocks (felt like 127 hours) and a tool a ...
... I didn't see Nemo, he was at the next stop. After about 25 mins I'd had enough and hopped back in the boat. While most people were out snorkelling, the rest of the group had their heads either over the toilet, a bin, a plastic bag or the side of the boat. I watched as this one guy started vomiting on the boat through his hands so it went all over the floor (and none of us had thongs on!) then I moved out the way so he could ...
... this place is. It is literally a parallel universe, as the movie says. A natural beauty of the universe that came to my TOP 10 around the world. The huge cliffs form a bay that hold a beach of pure water, crystalline in shades of green and blue, which looks more like a pond of white sand, still "untouched" by man. Although many visitors, there isn’t even a little touch of civilization there, beyond that still remains secret, like in the movie ... lol. We ...
... been deserted. Dray had warned us that you could hear the music all the way on our guesthouse at nighttime. Sure enough you could and it was a little bit irritating hearing the base thump until 2 AM in the morning. I don't mind the base if I had been a part of the activity, but just hearing the bass sound and not knowing exactly what's going on with that wee bit frustrating. Tomorrow when we're not so tired will definitely have to check out the infamous koh phi phi bar ...
