We LOVED LOVED LOVED Kantary Bay - Thailand is a country with a reputation for the land of smiles, Kantary Bay is a hotel of smiles with attentive service. We stayed here for a month and after 6 weeks of hectic touring of India, we wanted somewhere that we could just chill - Kantary delivered and at the end of the month we didn't want to leave. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a 1 Bed Apartment and for a long stay, the extra space much appreciated. Great bathroom with spacious shower and a bath, hot water always plentiful and room cleaned every day, fresh towels daily. Excellent breakfast each morning. Free wi-fi was only available in the lobby - for a hotel of this calibre we do think this should be complimentary in the rooms but paid £30 for the month and were able to access on all devices in the room. The scenery surrounding the hotel is stunning, the roof top pool has the most gorgeous views. Kantary Bay is in a quiet location, limited number of restaurants in the resort so if you want something lively this wont be the place for you unless you are happy to pay for taxi into Phuket Town or Patong, could be expensive though there is a limited shuttle service from Kantary Bay to these areas (chargeable). If you are looking for relaxation in Thailand in stunning scenery in a friendly hotel which provides personal service, Kantary Bay might just be for you. We don't normally return to resorts but we shall certainly be returning to Kantary. A big thank you to all the staff, we are missing you already.

And so it was time to return to Thailand, flying ‘home’ in time for Christmas. Well, okay, not quite home but as close to coming home as it gets for us as Thailand is a country that was new to both Graham and I when we first visited it back in 2005 - in fact our first long haul holiday together. Ah, the sweet memories of ‘young …
With being awake so early we decided to do some exploring of the vicinity on the two shoe express. We needed to find some breakfast and possibly, the beach so we set out around 7am. Unfortunately the locals did not get up as early as us and we were not able to find a place to eat until 10 am!! It was a small family run, roadside restaurant and well …
... even writing about it. It was horrific! I slept most of it but the train took forever and in the morning we were told we were gonna be delayed 3 hours, which meant we had missed the bus transfer we were supposed to get. We eventually get off the train and the guy from the travel company told us a car was coming to pick us up and take us to the "bus station" we got in this dodgey mans car who could have easily been a murderer and he dropped us off at what can only be described as a dump. ...

Alright, enough preaching to the choir!
Yesterday I decided to stray away from the two beaches I've become so very attached to. This place I'm staying at is equipped with its own private beach(es) so it can be hard to deviate from its convenient location. However straying away doesn't come easy. It's practically all forest here which entails steep climbs and dodging of massive tree roots. There's a lovely ...

At about 3:30am, Kobe walked into our room. He fell asleep yesterday afternoon with gum in his mouth which fell out during the night. He had gum in his hair and his pillow!!
It is now 4:53 am. Brad and I are now sitting by our private pool on the balcony of our condo (pretty sweet!) and waiting for the sun to ...
