... Arrival at the gate brought us the knowledge that the park was closed for the day maybe for the best as it was quite dark. So we switched gears and headed to an area called Korinbo which was supposed to be know for restaurant lined streets. At first things were looking up at we discovered a sensational smelling bakery called Sumo Break where we collected a pastry similar to a churro dipped in delectable chocolate. Definitely, on my list for top desserts but eat too ...

... Fort Edmonton or Heritage Park. We wandered many traditional homes, learned about silk making, observed some incredible wood carving and tried our luck at walking on stilts. As it was quite chilly we were two of the four tourists in the village but we quite enjoyed snooping through the homes set against a snow covered forest. Had underground wooden piping for water supply, and made umbrellas out of peanut oil coated paper. Meant to meet Showhey for dinner, ...

Woke up this morning and must have been snowing a fair bit last night. A solid dusting on everything, and still coming down fairly heavily (well by our standards anyway) Temperature predictions for the day are tops of 3, lows of -4. Glad we have plenty of warm clothes. Had lots of fun walking through the snow and knocking the trees to make the snow fall on each other. Though the numb toes and fingers were less fun. Walked down to the ...

Woke up to some light snow coming down on our way out to breakfast. Had chocolate waffles, apple cake and a coffee at a local cafe. Walked back to the train station an got a bus to the Hida folk village. It's an outdoor museum where they have moved 20 or so historical buildings form the Hida area. Buildings like the saw mill, carpenters, head of the village, peasant hut and ...
