3 Buses, 2 Dutch girls and a Big Flower

12th November 2009

Lynnie.....

We left Taman Negara dripping wet with our two dutch mates on a local bus back to the town of Jerantut. The local bus stopped at all the little villages and took about an hour and half to finally get to town. The girls had planed to got to Gua Musang by Jungle train and then get a bus over to the Cameron Highlands and we had planned to get a bus from Jerantut to the Cameron Highlands, but having spoken to a friendly local it turned out that the onl...

Before leaving Kuala Lumpur, we had a few hours to kill, so some of the girls in the group headed back to the Central Market to look around the shops again! While there they convinced me (Zoe) to have a fish pedicure! You put your feet into a large fishtank and all of the fish suck the dead skin off. It felt really wierd and I screamed my head off at first as it was so tickley! But after 10 minutes my feet were so soft and gorgeous and it only cost a pound!

So we left ...

... Michael quite stunned at his boldness and Michael told me to continue on and he would go back to tell the girls to hurry. Yen pretty much was speed walking in front of me and I went a snail's pace to make sure Michael would be able to spot me. He finally jumped out and saw me and then the English girls were running behind trying to catch up. I kept thinking to myself that this Yen guy was a genuine ass for going so fast and not taking the girls ...

Malaysian Summary
Malaysian summary
It was now time to say goodbye to Malaysia and welcome a new and exciting prospect of Indonesia and Bali. We are both agreed that we have probably spent a bit too much time in Malaysia (5 weeks in total) but we have enjoyed every moment. We still are looking at places with fresh new eyes. Whilst every other backpacker we meet tells us tales of how Thailand is better, Bali more cultural etc, etc, it all lands on deaf ears (quite ...

Proper Boh Tea in the Cameron Highlands

Our hotel (not sure that’s the correct term for it!) in Ipoh was conveniently located next door to the ticket counter for the bus to Tanah Ratah. So we purchased our ticket and got on the bus that picked us up outside the front of our hotel. The journey to Tanah ratah was a winding procession through palm plantations, primary forest and marble mines. The scenery was great and I stared out the window wondering how the hell the terraces don’t just slip down ...

... be the leader and lags behind with me. Its all good fun! We move on to the tea plantation where we are able to look round the little factory at the processing of the tea. Its time to throw away the tea bags (which is all the rubbish) and buy the real thing and don't forget to let it infuse for three minutes. We enjoy a good cup of tea with a strawberry tart on the balcony overlooking the plantation. A lovely view. A very enlightening trip.

... We arrived back at our hostel just as the heavens opened. We then had a late Chinese lunch in a restaurant, which again looked a bit run down, but was really good. We spent the rest of the day around the town and our hostel. The next day we were at the bus station at 7.45am only to be told that our 8.00 VIP bus wasn't departing at all so we had to wait until 9.00 for a normal bus to Penang....great!
