Before leaving Kuala Lumpur, we had a few hours to kill, so some of the girls in the group headed back to the Central Market to look around the shops again! <br><br>Our hotel (not sure that&#8217;s the correct term for it!) in Ipoh was conveniently located next door to the ticket counter for the bus to Tanah Ratah. So we purchased our ticket and got on the bus that picked us up outside the front of our hotel. The journey to Tanah ratah was a winding procession through palm plantations, primary forest and marble mines. ... be the leader and lags behind with me. Its all good fun! We move on to the tea plantation where we are able to look round the little factory at the processing of the tea. Its time to throw away the tea bags (which is all the rubbish) and buy the real thing and don't forget to let it infuse for three minutes. We enjoy a good cup of tea with a strawberry tart on the balcony overlooking the plantation. A lovely view. A very enlightening trip.

... We arrived back at our hostel just as the heavens opened. We then had a late Chinese lunch in a restaurant, which again looked a bit run down, but was really good. We spent the rest of the day around the town and our hostel. The next day we were at the bus station at 7.45am only to be told that our 8.00 VIP bus wasn't departing at all so we had to wait until 9.00 for a normal bus to Penang....great!
