... at that moment or in general. Thus, Helene and Adholla are the Adhollas, yet his family would also be the Adhollas. Yet, when Helene is not with him, but with me, we could be the Helenes or the Nicoles (depending on who is speaking). And this one I love. Pick a name and make it plural to mean the entire group. No wasting time of saying ‘the group of 18 Danes that arrived last month with Karsten’, just call it ‘the Karstens’ and we all know what ...
Kampala, Kampala District, Uganda nic.... went to Tourism Uganda to check some things out. We spent a little time in Web City Cafe, and it had a fast connection, which is brillant for what I needed it for. Tried to look for the Cineplex on Wilson Road, which doesn't exist anymore - go to Garden City Complex for the cinema.

From here we got a taxi to Red Chilli Hideaway about 4km from the city centre. Another truck was here aswell, ATC (Africa Travel Company).

Kampala is a good city to ...
Kampala, Uganda andrewsinclair... protests and some looting and riots because the government wouldn't let in a tribal king. That was a week ago and everything seemed normal to me. Not that I really know what normal looked like here but I really didn’t see guys in riot gear or guys carrying guns except for the security guards. On our way into Uganda, we had to stop at the border and pay $50 for a visa which is a horrible purple stamp that you can’t ...
Kampala, Uganda travel_lover87... Kampala have a much deeper meaning, of course. Discontent with Museveni has been bubbling up over and over again and he has not yet shown any inclination to step down. And surely, I am the wrong person to talk about politics, yet to me Museveni is not all that different from Mugabe, yet, to my great surprise, people at home did not know about the clashes in Kampala. Was it not in the news? Yet, if one talks about Mugabe…everyone at home knows about the power-sharing deal ...

Kampala, Uganda courters... at the airport authorizing the driver from the Lodge to pick it up when he goes to collect more of my group members tomorrow. I’m thrilled!

I grab my laptop to post this episode of the blog, and am delighted to see Ernie and Ray from Ann Arbor checking in, so we sit up talking into the night. Great to see familiar faces gathering for what is sure to be a great adventure!
Kampala, Uganda wareameye... we purchased tickets for our bus ride to Kampala ahead of time and was told to come the following morning to the same spot, which was basically a parking lot full of buses with no wheels, to catch our bus. We thought this to be a bit odd but everything is new to us so we went with it. When we arrived the following morning to see only the same wheel-less buses we asked if we were in the right place and was told we needed to go to the bus park several ...
Kampala, Uganda katenclint... course I couldn't really ask this without completely giving the game away!)

I was informed that the wedding would be at 10am at Namirembe Cathedral. Now this cathedral is supposed to be rather good looking and I am hoping to take my parents there, so I thought that if nothing else it would be a good excuse to go and check it out. Thus at 10am the next morning (of course I was late!) I found myself driving with Justine and Tina from Hospice, to the wedding of "Andrew" and "Loy ...
Kampala, Uganda priya.akhurstSwarms of flying ants passed through on Wednesday night and they drop their wings and try to form new colonies whenever they see hard ground. The flying ants pair off to start new mounds but they are pretty big fat things and very slow so all the smaller aggressive ants in the region turn up and try to eat them. The paths to work were totally covered with flying ants trying to flee but getting caught and chewed by massive streams of ants that covered the road in places. We ...
