... our sleepy child to bed. Perhaps he'll occasionally dream of lanterns and shrines throughout his life.

After another late Saturday night, we lounged around the house and Will took an early nap on Sunday. As soon as woke up, he asked to go to the beach. Mike offered to drive so we could check out a recommended beach at the southern end of the peninsula rumored to have ample parking. After a forty minute drive through coastal towns and even some ...

... more Arhats. At a crossroads, we turned and approached Japan's tallest Buddha. The hundred foot statue was created in 1783 with restoration work done in 1966. Six very large suitcases, 4 stuffed carry-ons, 2 bulky kennels, 2 nervous dogs, 1 energetic toddler and only 2 adults. I'm not sure if flying half-way across the world with a two-year who apparently decided to boycott naps for the journey was more difficult than managing the sheer amount of stuff. Our small express shipment may take 45 days to arrive; the rest of our stuff perhaps a month or two behind. Therefore, six bags is not a lot especially with a toddler. I have ...

    Yoga and a National Treasure

I kick-started my Mother's Day weekend with a yoga session at a Shinto Shrine. Manshoji Shrine is old. Not old, as in, needs a new coat of paint. OLD, as in, this place is hundreds of years old, old! The yoga session was fun and unique, but not the best yoga I've ever done. The instructor did a great a great job of conducting the class in her best engrish. Inside the large tatami room, there were beautiful brass ...
