An amazing capital
Lima 2nd- 4th dec The first full day we had in Lima was on the 3rd, we made sure we got up pretty early so we had enough to check out the city centre and all the plazas. Out hotel was in the city centre so we wLas just around da corner from everything. A group of us checked out the museums and churches, it was amazing, one of the museums was under …
Balestas Islands
We took a lie in today as a consequence of Adelineīs adventures yesterday. As a result we didnīt take the boat trip to the Balleastas islands to see the Penguins, sea lions, dolphins and birds. Afterwards we took a fairly uncomfortable bus to Lima. Our first impressions of Lima is that its dirty and has a substantial number of shanty towns, the …

Lima - Rick
We landed in Lima in the afternoon, after overnighting it in Sao Paulo at an airport hotel. We met one of our fellow tour members in the airport by accident. The Aussie accent is a bit magnetic over here. It was nice to be somewhere cheap again after Rio.
Our first impressions of Lima were fairly poor. It looked …
Lima
Lima is the capital of Peru, and I have spent 3 days here... which to be honest is too long! There really isnīt that much to do here, unless you want to go to lots of museums. It has been good to have a rest though, and get my washing and internet things up to date.
I met the tour group on wednesday night, and so today I have taken a cab to …
Not all monuments and sunshine
Lima is huge, busy and exceptionally noisy at all hours of the day and night (even the road works outside our hotel kept going into the early hours of the morning). Millions of people are crammed into the shanty suburbs on the high slopes around the city. Unemployment is high and poverty common. Although always aware of this ever present reality in …

Good location, good wifi and cable TV. Dodgy looking entrance but once inside they have a cheerful looking bar and restaurant. Helpful doorman. No air-con, just a wall fan. Dingy corridor and dirty looking carpet in room. Good hot shower but need to run water for a while first, common in Peru. Good enough for a nite or two stay, not beyond that. Anyway most tourists in Lima would likely be there for just a couple of nites enroute to Nazca, Cusco, Machu Pichu, etc., where hotels are in much better condition. For $32/ nite, you probably get what you pay for.

We stayed there as part of a tour and although the rooms were very spacious, it was dated. The area is right in central Lima so it was walking distances to the Plaza de Armes but there's not much to do or see. I would rather stay in the Miraflores area. Would recommend this hotel for a business stay if you need to be in central area. There is no wifi in the rooms but they do have a computer you can use in the lobby.
