What a campaign it has been. Australia's paddlers dropping like dominos from the flu, a heat wave in Hungary, up to 40 ,and the best results Australia has ever achieved.
Warren competed in 5 events and won 4 GOLD and 1 SILVER. Boy were the Canadians upset.

... asked me to get some ice for Warren to help keep his temperature down. A simple task you would think! But no, after asking all the stores could I buy some ice, I ended up at the IDBF office, they sent me to first aid.....no ice.....then after about 10 minutes of conversation which I couldn't understand I was told to go back to one of the stores , find a volunteer and he would help me. Well help me he did, not with a cup of ice but ...
The temperature here is very hot and quite draining. Hungarians are lovely people but they haven't discovered yet about the dangers of the sun. They were marshalling the teams an hour before the race and expecting them to stand in 30+ degree heat and got vey upset when the teams kept going to the shade.
It was very well run and went smoothly with the last race being run about 5pm. All in all a good day.

The team went off to have training at the venue this morning.
I checked out the thermal pools which is attached to the hotel. The medicinal pools were green and very hot but the first one had floaty things which I didn't quite feel comfortable there. I tried all the jacuzzi pools but came back waiting for Warren to return.

... anyhow. No buses. It seems Romania is a no go area. They don't like them at all ( took our land after WW1 ). Everywhere I asked just gave me the cold shoulder and "good luck". However, have worked out I can get a bus to the Hungarian border town about 50km away so will do that and then walk, if need be, to the first town in Romania - Arad. I have all day and its only another ...
