They'll come at you walking on the sidewalk but if you don't back off, often a hand will be extended and the stranger will say "please" instructing you to pass.         ... by Yusuf we reached Kalkan an old fishing town and only safe harbour between Kas and Fethiye. The white washed houses with bright bougainvilleas descend to the sea. It averages 300 days of sunshine a year. Prior to 1920 the population was mainly Greek until the exchange of populations between Greece and turkey. there are still empty houses in Kalkan from the 1920's. We were the first ones to arrive, and we were drenched in sweat and fanning ourselves profusely...the waiter brought us not one but two fans that he kindly pointed right at us!
