Our first day in Turkey was a very chilled one by the pool. Today, however, we decided to venture to Hisarönü (a 40 minute walk away) for their local market. Perhaps not a wise idea to walk in the 35 degree heat, we were relieved to finally arrive at the market and be under shaded cover. But this relief was short lived - the market was mad! There were numerous stalls of cheap fake goods, from handbags and purses ('Mulberry', ...

... the harbour and port and even St John's hidden inlet where he was said to have holed up for awhile. On our way back down the hill to the town we stop for some fizzy so we actually have the energy to make it back to the bus, we are amazed by the thousands of people lining up to get in to the acropolis. No wonder our tour guide was so stoked to be the first bus that arrived. Time for another nap on the bus as we head to Rhodes old town ...

... all back to the ship, loaded it into the fridge and took one back with me as Gab, Emerson and I went off to have a swim in the bay near the boat. The water salinity is so high in this part of the world you float head clear of the water. Gab and Emerson worked on their shell collection while I floated around the bay - bliss!
I finally opened an Alpha only to discover I'd purchased 17 cans of their rather bland lager instead of their Weiss :(

... spots - no one seems to mind though. But it is in the main port where passengers close their eyes; without too much of an error, the back wheels would be over the edge! The road between the building and the water is only just wide enough for the bus. We met up with a few Greek Australians who have traded part or the whole of their lives for a life on the island. We loved Symi; it was unexpectedly charming and we would go back in a heartbeat.
