... Banja Luka looked as if it was a European city out of any of the "western" nations. The two completely different styles of city reflects the totally different cultures that I experienced while I was traveling these past two weeks. Banja Luka is a nearly mono-ethnic nation, with very few groups of Bosniaks or Croats remaining. This ensures that the kinds of ethnic political paralysis that are often seen in the Balkans are directed out towards the Federation, instead of dealing with ...

Our third stop in Bosnia, we are now in Republic Srpska in the city of Banka Luka! A lovely 5 hour train from Sarajevo, this riverside locale so far feels like a modern metropolis in comparison to the laid back old towns we have visited so far. All through the meal my liqueur glass kept being refilled, i finally lost count at six glasses, but the bottle had to be finished and only ...

... were also yummy. Then back to mum and dads to have a cooking lesson and prepare the pig for a spit tomorrow. First to be cooked is Pita and cheese. Filo pastry rolled up with homemade cheese inside and cooked. Then Baklava. This is yummy and very simple. Filo pastry with crushed walnuts, rolled and cooked and then covered with a sugar syrup. After this we went outside to prepare the pig for the spit. Dad ...

    Mystery Tourism

A travel blog entry by liliflynn on Jul 12, 2014

After several hours and two border crossings, we arrive at Banja Luka in Bosnia. Little did we know, that this supposed adventure tourism hub had been badly affected by the floods. This adversely affected the tourist industry, resulting in hours searching for hidden tourist agencies that may or may not exist. We ended the day settling for a dinner of delicious veal rolls with spicy Serbian salad and some World Cup ...
