... like effect and serve as a memorial to the people that lost their lives to that mortar.

Interesting to see and hear the perspective of the war and living in the city from a 17 year old in Sarajevo and contrasted with Bata's 40 year old's perspective from Mostar.

A bunch of us were planning to see the 2 local Sarajevo soccer teams play each other with Mark and meet him at 5pm for a 7:30 kick off but Mark found out it was a 4pm ...
Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina richlum... European City of Culture. Talk about a mess! It seems that once
they got that award, they decided to dig up the whole city and repave
everything. Inside the old city, there are more roads and squares dug
up than not. The main city square, Szechenyi Square is such a mess not
only can you not follow the map beause half the landmarks aren't where
you expect them you literally can't follow the map due to blocked
alleys and ...
Pecs, Hungary bigkevoz... Went to Zvijezda Kamanjo for dinner and had the Pasticada which is a traditional beef goulash/stew where the whole side of beef is cooked and then slices cut off and served up with the gravy/stew.
Not as good as the goulash at Mali Medo and twice the price!

Friday got up early to catch 8:30 bus to Plitvice Jezera national park on our way to Split. Was a bit overcast and looking like it would ...
Zagreb, Croatia richlum... different, though, even though we were only a ten-minute drive away! The trees that were everywhere were all changing colors, so many of them were a brilliant red, yellow, purple, and orange. Mixed with the turquoise and green of the lakes, we really felt like we were in paradise. It wasn’t too crowded either; I would hate to picture it in summer, though!
Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia armajor7... and tourists. The view from the top showed us how big the city was and we were surprised to see quite a few high rise buildings in the distance. We spent the afternoon just walking around and are headed to the Plitvice Lakes National Park-I have heard that it is a beautiful part of Croatia and I am glad that we will get to stay the night at a campground just outside the park.
Zagreb, Croatia armajor7... workshops: learning to weave baskets of willow by Andrea from Italy (we made a huge basket for the food trailer),a presentation/discussion about Chernobyl by Sergei and Andrei from Ucraine, who work in the zone and a presentation about ecological living and permaculture, composting and solar ovens with pictures of personal experiments of Barkan from Israel. Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina holadiyoSunnuntai meni siirtymisissa. Jonkin verran tuli kuitenkin lahinna ruuan perassa taivallettua. Bosnia on ...
Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina oskariWe told a lot of Sarajevo residents our next stop was going to be Banja Luka. A lot of icy stares back. You don't want to go there. Now we understand. Tell a co-worker you are going to spend the next part of your holiday at the Silverwater Sydney Water Effluent Treatment Facility and you will get a similar reaction. Its not ...
Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina claude_and_iain... Luka. There's not a whole lot to it, honestly. There are a few old buildings (that survived the quake) along the main drag, a towering, but attractive Orthodox cathedral (that looks oddly new), and a fairly intact Ottoman-era castle along the Vrbas river. Taking that all in required about an hour to an hour and a half at most, but it beats sitting in a hotel room. The castle itself was interesting, despite not having a single sign or attraction inside. In ...
Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina xerius... unfortunately since I first found it, I have the impression that the PM's message has been changed to sound somewhat more like slick political rhetoric. If I'm right and someone finds a cache'd copy, I'd be grateful for it. * * * We actually went up to Banja Luka to visit my buddy Dejan. He and I met in Berlin back in April. We weren't in the same language class (he was one tier ahead of me) but we went out together lots and had a crush on the same girl ...
