... began at Dulles Airport with a two-hour layover in Constantinople. It was uneventful except for a few minor inconveniences. The safety card - you know - the laminated document in the back pocket of the seat immediately in front of you - well - it was written in Turkish. It wasn't a big deal because it had cartoon characters that showed me what to do in the event the plane crashed!

... 3 each. The coffee was very”grainy” and sweet, even though I said no sugar. It is very hot by now 38C I would say. At 1-30 we set off by coach for an afternoon tour.Our guide was called Stadi a very pleasant lady, who told us that the area has plenty of subterrannean water which is essential for them to grow olives,tomatoes & grapes. Our “wine tasting tour” was to a winery which has been family owned since 1864.

... was every bit as spectacular as I had been lead to believe. Despite being off season there were still hundreds gathered at the Ventian Castle on the towns tip to watch the sunset, As the sun dipped behind the horizon the crowd burst into applause and then within what seemed to be minutes vanished. It seemed such a shame they left so quickly as the village itself had so much to offer and they also missed out on an amazing full moon.

A very efficient underground railway system made it easy to travel around, though we found our hotel was in walking distance of many attractions, shops and restaurants.
