... Abbot here before he became the Pope. Montserrat also has one of the 'Black Madonnas' Apparently, she was found in a grotto... She was white then. They tried to drag her up the mountain, but she was so heavy, it was nearly impossible. so this was seen as a sign that she was very special. ( no reward without hard work ) But all the smoke from the candles over the centuries gave her a 'tanned ' look so when the monks decided to restore her, the decided to follow the people's choice ...

... Spain and Europe since 2004! This opera house is a classic and our seats were perfect, second level, first row. Although the performance was entirely in Spanish it still was riveting and entertaining. The music and dancing was superb. This was a wonderful way to celebrate our 40th anniversary! Another magical moment in Spain!

We now had a full day and it was time to go back to the hotel and get some rest. We have to pack as tomorrow afternoon we are headed for ...
