Saturday we were up early, had breakfast, disembarked, walked to the train station and rode to Schiphol Airport in plenty of time to catch our flight to Munich. After landing, we picked up our rental car and drove about 35 miles south into the hills to Schliersee. Monday there was a break in the weather, so we drove to nearby Neuhaus and walked the trail to Spitzingsee to see the beautiful waterfall. Then we ...

No Niko here though. The camping is basic to say the least. Though the locals don’t camp as such, they chalet. No tents or camper cars here. Little, itize bitzi, log cabins are the go.

... Maj Dick Winters swam in the Zeller every morning and the scenes from the show looked so incredible I just had to visit. Fast forward 12 years from that series and there we were. On the shores of an amazing lake surrounded by green hills and snow topped peaks. It is a truly beautiful scene that in winter is frequented by numerous skiing and snowboard enthusiasts and in summer by swimmers and hikers. The Zeller See is among the cleanest lakes in Europe and is filled ...

The photos speak for themselves about today. We could not believe when we woke up what a glorious morning we had. Breakfast at the guest house was simple buy delicious, bread rolls, cold meat, cheese, good coffee. There were a number of Japanese and Chinese staying at the gust house, I think we were the only European. Going to the lake we caught the bus, as we had the Berchtesgaden card it was free. This meant walking to the train station which was only 550 ...

    Traveling to Berchestgaden

Gasthaus Alpina: A gloomy, rainy, cold day, our first since leaving Amsterdam. Just as well as it was going to a funny day of traveling. There are a number of factors: 1. I suggested Berchestgaden because of ' Eagles Nest' and it is supposed to be a picturesque spot. 2. I knew we could get there from Innsbruck via Salzburg and by going back into Germany to Freilssang (just not the way we ended up going). 3. We ...
