    Nice Hotel

As with all Chinese hotels, it seems, the beds were like ply wood covered with a sheet. This hotel gave four pillows which is the most I've ever seen. Also the rooms were very clean. In our room, we were able to watch movies on demand for free in English, but our friend's did not have this feature for some reason. Very close to the bus station, great restaurants, and the river. It's a great location.

... art on the buildings was authentic, but it was definitely something very different and unique to this area. It was a good trip to take, despite the confusion and intense heat.

I guess I should get used to the heat anyway, I'm going to be living on the equator soon! Agh! After this weekend, I am really frightened about that.

I found myself following a father and son pair from France. We didn't say anything to each other until we ...

... Diaolou is the most scenic and the best kept. Also the most touristy. However the interiors are a bit less interesting than the one in the Lin Villa.

    4) Li Garden. Nothing special. I think they tried to reproduced the garden in Suzhou but didn’t get any close.

    5) Chikan. The town (where my hostel was) must have been gorgeous when all the building where new. They have cinema studios here and you can visit them so I had a quick look ...

After our orphanage visit, Mr. Guan and his wife very kindly invited us to one of his favorite restaurants for lunch. It was a good drive from the SWI, and more on the outskirts of Jiangmen. This was by far our best meal in China, although we have had many. The restaurant was new, and pretty full with people celebrating New Year's with their families. Again, we had ...

... translator and Mr. Guan and his wife and headed off to Jiangmen Social Welfare Institute. Mr. Guan works in the government so he was able to get us special permission to visit the orphanage on a holiday. I had asked official permission from the government and been denied access, but with our connection, we were able to go inside for our visit. We were greeted by Mr. Wu, the orphanage director, and Mei Ayi, one of Lili's caregivers. She was so excited to see Lili, it ...
