We spent a relaxing week exploring our area, going to Kailua Pier and the beach, getting supplies at the market, having libations around the pool, and playing cards. On Sunday, we went to church at Mokuaikaua Church. It's the church with the steeple that you can see from our lanai - a 4 minute walk from our condo. Today there is a movement in Hawaii that favours the restoration of total independence for Hawaii. Let's hope they eventually achieve their goal.
We saw Muku'aikaua Church which was completed in 1938. It is Hawaii first Christian Church. The church is made of crushed coral and lava rock. The interior is decorated with Koa wood.
