    ... that are held in place by empty floating Coke and Sprite bottles. All through the countryside the lakes are filled with rows of these bottles. A very strange site until we learned why. The mussels are left in the nets for 2-4 years or more. The longer the time, the bigger the pearl! During this time the mussels are cleaned and water is circulated to keep the mussels alive and healthy.

    Barely took any photos in Hangzhou as it ****** it down most of the time we were there but here are a few. Hangzhou isn't much of a wintery place really as most of the activities are based around the lake. We attempted to walk around it on my birthday but got soaked through so went to a silk museum instead. I told you it was three wet and wild girls let loose in China...We made up for the ****** weather by going for some real nice food at a restaurant called Grean Tea restaurant though. ...
