      I thought that by visiting Unesco sites I would stay on the beaten track. Well, no! I am so glad to get help from Echo (the girl I met in Xiamen) to book the hotel, and also write down the direction for me. I would have never managed without her! My hostel was in Chikan, about 30min bus from Kaiping. I arrived there after nightfall and the bus dropped me at a cross road, near a bridge.       ... families, including children. We noticed in one of the markets that designer face masks were being sold, and many people here were wearing them to reduce the pollution intake. Both Lili and I have noticed our noses drying up, and hers particularly was sensitive to the pollution in Hong Kong. Anyway, back to New Year's Eve.
