Today was 106 mile day which was flatter so easier cycling. Again overcast, wore arm warmers in the morning as temp was 68.

Main scenery is now corn fields. Lots. Sadly as the corn has grown so high you can't see over the top so the views are always limited.

Mostly uneventful day. Springfield is a large city and was the ...

... it very much. Many of you might be shocked to know that no books were purchased at the gift store ;)

Our first Roadside Amercia stop was a Spartan Statue at a local High School. It was hilariously awful - you can tell that it started out as a Viking before "being turned into" a Spartan. Bern was a good sport about getting out of the car to have his photo taken with it (and with his REAL Sparty shirt on, too!). A good laugh for ...

Dave P's friend Steve Eckman flow down to St Louis rented car and met up with us at the hotel. We all went to dinner at the SGT. Pepper's Cafe. Then back ...

... with the monument, mostly because the inside where all the Lincoln family members are interred was not open to the public. The access to the plaza level was closed off as well, preventing a better view of the statuary. I climbed aboard my bike, and programmed in the Lincoln Home which is located deeper into downtown, about a 3 mile ride. The Lincoln Home was awesome. The President's eldest son, Robert Todd Lincoln, granted ownership to the State of Illinois with a couple ...

... us, in the background. Great to get a proper catch up with news from the home front by Hay. It was lovely to invite them in to our holiday home. When Bebe saw how big our bed was, she was wide eyed & with a "WOW". Driving to Walmart to get supplies felt a familiar run, on the Route 66. we wandered about with a basket each, for booze and munchies to take back home. Trying our luck with Carlinville walmarts, to see if we can get our amber nectar for our Route 66 ...
